Mrazgale asked:
One of my hobbies is cutting out interesting articles from the newspapers. However, I have a problem compiling them. I wanted to paste them into scrapbooks, but it’s rather trouble, what with gluing them on to paper, and I don’t know what is the suitable paper size for my pages/book. Should I file these newspaper articles instead? How? The important thing is that they should be easy to read, after I’ve compiled and categorized them neatly.

Use sticky dots to mount them onto notebook paper, then keep them in binders with tabs for the dates, subject or whatever your filing system is.

This has been a question/problem since newspapers were invented – how to keep the awkward shaped articles in easy to read form without spending a fortune or damaging them. There is no good answer – libraries file the articles loose in folders with dividers because it is too costly to do otherwise. The best handling results if you can copy them to standard sized paper. The best search results if you can scan them to OCR with a reference either to a direct image (to check OCR errors) or to the filing folder holding the rarely accessed originals.
Since so many old newspapers can only be accessed on microfilm with printed copies being 8.5×11 inches, that may be the best filing size. Also costly.
